Thank you for visiting our site, my name is Ashley but my traditional name is Usi. I was given this name by my grandmother Leona Peters at a ceremony in 2011. Its a unique name and the meaning is still a mystery. I am a Coast Salish Weaver and I have been learning and practicing the art form since 2021. I’ve travelled around parts of the world and learned from Weavers, Teachers and Elders, the result is my take on traditional weaving. My style of weaving starts with a Homemade Wooden Loom, and natural sheep’s wool, the wool is dyed by hand in house, and each stitch is meticulously placed sometimes thousands or even tens of thousands of stitches go into my large pieces. The result is always personal and, spiritually in tune with the person it’s meant for. Some people work with metal and glass but at Seven Bears we prefer wood and wool. They are warm, traditional, sustainable products that last and inspire. It is with great pleasure we are now offering Weaving Classes from Vancouver to Hope they can be All-Inclusive with Tools, Looms and Wool included in the program.
